The importance of sedation in dentistry in the public health system
Here in Brazil, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, I created a project to include sedation in dentistry in the public health system, with the aim of providing free humanized dentistry to patients and families who cannot afford private treatment.
With the help of the local town hall, we set up the first sedation room in all of Brazil, free of charge, with a united team and all the ideal preparation!
Today, in the city of Sao Pedro da Aldeia, in Rio de Janeiro, we no longer have queues for dental treatment in the public system! And with this, I want to show how important it is for the government to adopt sedation to improve the lives of special patients!
Odontoma removal surgery in Severe autism with the aid of associated sedation
Dental tumors are benign odontogenic tumors formed from epithelial and mesenchymal cells, with an appearance in the first two decades of life, more routinely involving permanent teeth.
Their etiology is unknown and they may be associated with local trauma, inflammatory and/or infectious processes, mature ameloblasts, remnants of dental lamina, and some anomalies and alterations in dental development. The World Health Organization (WHO) divides odontomas into: Compound Odontoma and Complex Odontoma.
it is possible to diagnose cases of odontomas in autistic children, their etiology, treatment, as well as clinical and radiographic characteristics. In order to achieve this goal, we presented a case of compound odontoma in the left maxilla region of a 9 (nine) year old autistic patient, causing impaction of the left permanent second premolar, tooth 25. The surgery was performed using medicated sedation with Midazolam associated with 70% Nitrous Oxide with 30% O2, through a nasal mask, with continuous monitoring.
Laser therapy as an effective tool in surgeries for patients with murray-puretc-dresher syndrome
This lecture deals with a specific case of a 5-year-old female child with Murray-Puretic-Dresher syndrome, characterized by the presence of solid, firm nodules or papules, usually on the face and neck, which can be fast or slow growing.
The patient had countless papular nodules in the region of commissure lips and mouth, making it difficult to take food and perform oral hygiene. With the use of a gastrostomy tube imminent, the mother approached us to help with surgical removal. This was carried out using high-powered laser, taking advantage benefits of modern technology for special patients.
Importance of gingival massage in the behavioral control of autistic patients in the management and humanized dental treatment
The paper aims to demonstrate how the gingival massage technique created by me, helps and provides calm and behavioral control in the management of autistic patients for dental treatment. It shows how the combination of Chinese massage techniques can contribute to sensory relaxation and consequently attenuate the behavior of people with the disorder.
