When words matter more than anaesthesia: The soft skills revolution in dentistry

While clinical excellence remains the cornerstone of dentistry, the modern patient journey increasingly demands more than technical skill. From the first phone call to post-treatment care, every touchpoint becomes an opportunity—or a risk—depending on how well we communicate.

This lecture maps the full dental patient journey and identifies the critical communication moments that shape trust, reduce anxiety, and improve treatment acceptance. Drawing on insights from behavioral psychology and communication science, we will explore practical tools that dental professionals can use to foster deeper patient relationships and stronger team dynamics.
